Because I've fixed broken strings mid-song on stage so many times over the years (can't imagine being able to do it with the LoPro), I've got to have the original Edge. I traded my well loved RG-570 for studio time this last winter, but swapped the original Edge with the LoPro that came with my S-5570. Stopped posting any pictures after the Photobucket debacle but will try to get back with it again sometime.ĭidn't think of that and I agree, the inlay has to be saved, regardless.Ĭan't wait to hear the successful results when you start your JEM resurrection thread. Well, I took off the pickguard because I didn't like the look of it, filled in the screw holes, swapped the pickups to bright green Tone Zone and Humbucker from Hell and then a black Lace Sensor in the middle, purple Knob-Ease knobs, black selector switch, brass FatHead for the headstock, additional output jack for right angle plugs on the back of the output cover plate, and lots of horizontal checking cracks in the finish from being brought in and played while the guitar was cold (down to -50 below on at least two occasions).

Pretty cool because it's an all natural charcoal and oil finish now, but with the bright yellow scoop in the back. Found the best deal I could and bought it in Desert Yellow, then took it back to Yamanashi and sanded it all down, except for the little recess by the neck plate. One thing is for sure, that you just noted, and that is the endless, fat sustain on my JEM! Damn that guitar is so great!įor a time I really wanted an unfinished alder like the one he played for a while and it reminded me immediately of what I'd done to the RG-550 that I'd hitchhiked to Tokyo for. I used to look at all the JEMs when in Japan because it seemed they were everywhere, but not being into guitar collecting, I'm just going to stick with what I've got and I think that three is good enough for me. I love my 77FP and won't buy another, but have often wished I could reach the high end with the ease that my S-5570 gives me. I didn't know how rare that combination of things would be.) when I received my UV7BK 'green dot' new in the box, it was in fact the very first time I'd ever seen a LoPro version of the Edge - I didn't know they'd advanced things the loaner white Universe I'd test-driven and used for a month had an Edge-7 On it. I was actually expecting the disappearing pyramid inlays on there - as per Steve's earliest prototype of the Floral, so that was quite a surprise. everything I was looking for in a guitar at the time right there.) - I immediately put one on order and received it a while later. And since I'd missed out on the Loch Ness Green ones in those early days (one was put into my hands at a store while I was testing a Mesa/Boogie MKIII combo amp, and WOW. when I started seeing those, I was immediately captivated. (And the original Floral Jem is a long-time favorite of mine as well. did that first with the Floral, and when that worked out so well, I did an Italian Leather ClipLock version for the 7VWH I took a black DiMarzio ClipLock (my favorite straps for decades) and did freehand fabric painting to mimic the fretboard vine.
